Num tempo em que os gestos antigos parecem jà ter passado o seu momento, Serôdio propõe outra leitura: a maturação lenta como ato de vanguarda. Os entrançados de palma - outrora técnica utilitária, agora matéria artística - são reinventados através de uma linguagem contemporânea, sem romper com o seu corpo ancestral. Aqui, a empreita não é artesenato, mas gesto plástico: é forma, ritmo e pensamento. As peças apresentadas são feitas à mão, com palmas da serra algarvia, numa continuidade que não copia o passado, mas o desloca - para o presente e para o futuro. São "serôdias": chegam depois, mas chegam com outra força. Um convite a sentir a memória viva que se dobra para o futuro.

Final gestures for the future

In a time when abcient gestures seem to have missed their moment, Serôdio offers another reading: slow ripening as an act of avant-garde. The palm weaving - once a utilitarian craft, now an artistical material - are reinvented through a contemporary language, without breaking from their ancestral body. Here, empreita is not handcraft, but a plastic gesture: it is form, rhythm, and thought. The pieces presented are handmade, using palm fronds from the Algarve mountains, in a continuity that does not copy the past, but shifts it - into the present and toward the future. They are serôdias - arriving late, butwith a different kind of strength. ('Serôdio' is an Portuguese word meaning "late-maturing" or "out of season".) An invitation to feel living memory bending toward the future.
